A Note on Planning Permission
The Claudia Pent L is designed to fall within Permitted Development rights for most UK residential gardens by keeping the overall height under 2.5m. However, planning rules vary and additional restrictions apply to listed buildings, conservation areas, National Parks, and properties where Permitted Development rights have been removed. We always recommend confirming with your local planning authority if you have any doubt.
Roofing Upgrade — Britmet Composite Slate
Your Claudia Pent L comes with EPDM rubber roofing included — a professional-grade finish perfectly suited to the shallow roof pitch. For those who want to enhance the appearance further, we offer an upgrade to Britmet composite slate tiles. Please contact us to discuss pricing.
Bespoke Options
Electrical lighting, heating, insulation upgrades — we can accommodate all of these as part of the installation. Contact us to discuss your requirements before placing your order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I need planning permission for the Claudia Pent L?
In most cases, no. At 249cm overall height, the Claudia Pent L is specifically designed to fall within Permitted Development rights for residential properties in England and Wales. Provided it is used as an ancillary garden building, is sited within the curtilage of a dwelling house, is not forward of the principal elevation, and does not cover more than 50% of the garden area, no planning application should be required. Listed buildings, conservation areas, and National Parks have different rules. We always recommend confirming with your local planning authority if you have any doubt.
Does the price include everything — foundations, roofing, and timber treatment?
Yes. Foundation preparation and installation, EPDM rubber roofing, and Smart Seal timber treatment are all included. A Britmet composite slate upgrade is available at an additional cost — please contact us for pricing. No hidden costs, no separate groundworks quotes.
What type of foundation does the Claudia Pent L need?
We assess each site individually and install the most appropriate foundation as part of the price. For most residential gardens, this will be ground screws or composite pads. Where ground conditions require it, we can install a concrete slab. We will advise you on the best option during the pre-installation survey.
What extra protection do you install at foundation level?
On every installation, we fit a composite damp-proof strip along the base of the foundation beneath all pressure-treated timber. We lay a ground membrane beneath the entire building to manage moisture and suppress weed growth. And we install anti-insect and rodent mesh to prevent ingress beneath the floor — a detail that most garden building installers simply do not include. We do everything we possibly can to make every structure we install last as long as possible.
Why does the Claudia Pent L have EPDM roofing rather than shingles?
The Claudia Pent L has a very shallow 7.9° roof pitch — necessary to keep the overall height under 2.5m. At this pitch, shingles and tiles cannot be used effectively, as they require a steeper slope to shed water properly. EPDM rubber roofing is the professional-grade solution for shallow-pitch roofs: it is fully waterproof, highly durable, and will outlast felt by many years. We will never install standard shed felt on any building we are responsible for.
How long does installation take?
The Claudia Pent L is typically installed in one to two days, depending on site conditions and foundation type. We will confirm the installation schedule with you in advance.
What is Smart Seal and how long does it last?
Smart Seal is a clear, penetrating timber sealant applied to all external timber as part of the installation. It provides up to 10 years of protection. After 10 years, a single re-application coat is all that is needed.
Can I use the Claudia Pent L as a year-round garden room or home office?
Yes. The 44mm Nordic spruce walls provide good thermal mass and the double-glazed windows and door minimise heat loss. For year-round comfort in all weathers, we recommend adding internal insulation boards and a suitable heating source. Please contact us to discuss options.
Can I add electricity or heating?
Yes. Please contact us before placing your order to discuss your requirements.
How long does delivery take after ordering?
Typically 4 to 8 weeks from order confirmation. Please contact us if you have a specific deadline.
Do you install across the whole of the UK?
We install across Mainland UK. Island locations and certain remote areas of Scotland may be subject to additional logistics costs — please contact us before ordering.
