Project Overview
This recently completed project in Evesham involved the full supply and installation of a Dunster House composite add room — a lean-to style modular extension fitted directly against the rear of a traditional brick semi-detached home. The result is a bright, well-insulated living space that seamlessly connects the house to the garden.
The Build Process
Stage 1 – Structural Frame & Composite Panels
Installation began with the erection of the structural frame and fitting of the cream composite cladding panels to the side and rear elevations. The composite panels provide excellent weather resistance and thermal performance, requiring minimal maintenance compared to traditional timber cladding.
Stage 2 – Roof Construction & Waterproofing
With the walls in place, the team moved to the flat roof structure. The roof deck was laid and fully covered with a heavy-duty EPDM waterproof membrane, carefully dressed and sealed around the twin roof lantern apertures. This is one of the most critical phases of the build — a properly detailed flat roof ensures long-term performance and prevents any water ingress around the light wells.
Stage 3 – Glazing Installation
The front elevation features a full-width anthracite grey aluminium glazing system comprising large sliding patio doors flanked by fixed panels, with a row of top-hung vent windows above. This configuration maximises natural light and ventilation while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Stage 4 – Interior Shell
Inside, the add room was handed over at shell stage — OSB-lined ceiling with the twin roof lanterns flooding the space with natural light, insulated composite wall panels to all elevations, and a clean chipboard floor deck ready for the customer's chosen finish. French doors on the side elevation provide a secondary access point to the garden.
Stage 5 – External Finishing
Externally, black UPVC guttering and downpipes were fitted to the rear and side elevations, directing rainwater away from the structure and tying neatly into the existing drainage. The fascia boards were finished in white, providing a crisp contrast against the cream composite panels and anthracite glazing.
The Finished Result
The completed add room delivers a substantial increase in usable living space — bright, warm, and fully weathertight. The anthracite aluminium glazing and cream composite cladding complement the existing brick elevations beautifully, and the twin roof lanterns ensure the interior never feels dark regardless of the season.
