There’s nothing we enjoy more than handing over a finished project and seeing a customer’s garden completely transformed — and this recent installation in Hull was a real pleasure from start to finish. Our customer wanted a stylish, low-maintenance outdoor space they could actually use whatever the British weather decided to do, and a modern aluminium louvred pergola was the perfect answer.
Here’s the story of the build, told through the photos from the day.
The finished pergola — sleek anthracite grey against red brick
This is the pergola in all its glory. We fitted a contemporary anthracite grey aluminium louvred pergola wall-mounted against the back of the property, spanning the paved patio area right outside the customer’s French doors. The clean lines and matt grey finish sit beautifully against the warm red brick, and because it’s aluminium, it will look exactly this good for decades with virtually no maintenance. Notice how neatly it tucks against the house and the fence line — every installation is measured and built to suit the individual garden.
An open, airy space — louvres tilted for light and air
Step underneath and you can see what makes a louvred pergola so special. The adjustable roof louvres rotate to let in as much or as little sunlight as you like — open them up on a bright day, or close them completely for full shade and rain protection. We also integrated LED strip lighting into the frame, so the space works just as well in the evening, and you can see the side privacy screen here too, giving shelter from the wind and a bit of seclusion from next door.
Looking up — the detail in the louvre roof
A look straight up at the roof shows the quality of the engineering. The precision-formed aluminium blades close together to form a completely weathertight roof, and the built-in guttering channels rainwater away discreetly through the posts. It’s a genuinely clever, well-made system — and it’s this attention to detail that separates a premium aluminium pergola from a cheap flat-pack alternative.
The integrated privacy screen — shelter on demand
Here you can see the integrated privacy screen drawn down. Built neatly into the side of the frame, it pulls down to block low sun, add privacy, and keep the wind off — then rolls away out of sight when it’s not needed. Little touches like this are what turn a patio into a proper outdoor room the family will use all year round.
The transformation — patio, lawn and pergola working together
And here’s the finished space pulled together — the pergola sitting proudly over the patio, framed by the crisp artificial lawn and the surrounding brickwork. What was an underused corner of the garden is now the natural place to sit out with a coffee in the morning or entertain friends in the evening. Our customer was absolutely delighted, and honestly, so were we.
