Do I need planning permission for the Space 2 M?

Possibly — at 5.0m x 3.6m and 18m², the Space 2 M has a substantial footprint and it is worth checking carefully before ordering. In most cases it will still fall within Permitted Development rights for residential properties in England and Wales, provided it is used as an ancillary garden building, is sited within the curtilage of a dwelling house, is not forward of the principal elevation, and does not cover more than 50% of the garden area. The mono-pitch roof keeps the overall height low. However, the larger footprint means the 50% garden coverage rule is more likely to be relevant.
